What would it take to have male college students wait in line in the midday sun?Try Playboy models. About 100 ASU students lined the sidewalk Wednesday near campus to get the autographs of four fellow students who appeared in Playboy’s October college issue, featuring the “Girls of the Pac-10.” There were 14 ASU students who appeared in the magazine.

Several students said they ditched class for the event.

"It’s better than geology," said Addison Graber, 18, a freshman majoring in business.

"I’m definitely calling my buddies tonight," said Jeff Alexander, 18, a freshman majoring in psychology.

ASU has a reputation for parties and beautiful women, the students said, and the models were no exception.

But construction major and freshman John Ferguson, 19, wasn’t overly impressed with Playboy. "I see way-hotter girls in my dorm than in this," Ferguson said.

Playboy has featured college students in its magazines for 28 years. The Pac-10 was last featured in 1999.

The models greeted each fan Wednesday with a friendly smile and personalized their messages. Playboy representatives were present to ensure their safety.

Abigail Precioso, 23, said her photo was tasteful and that she was happy she did it.

"I have other goals for my career. This was just something; an opportunity presented itself," said Precioso, who graduated this year with degrees in marketing and management. "It’s something I can say I did."

Jocelyn Houston, 21, a senior majoring in broadcast journalism, said people on campus have stopped her and asked her for an autograph.

"Everyone’s been really good to us," Houston said.

Campus Corner at University Drive and College Avenue, sold about 750 copies of the issue by mid-day.
